What to do about your car when relocating abroad

More and more people are deciding to relocate to other countries, whether it is to retire in a warmer climate, for work, or for other reasons, the population of the UK is becoming more mobile.

There are lots of things to consider when you relocate. For example, do you take your car with you, or do you sell it and buy one in the country you are moving to. If you are going to Europe it is usually possible to take your car with you, and it may even make the moving process easier as you can move a lot of your belongings.

I decided to Sell my car when I last lived abroad because I was going to a cold country and it wouldn't have been suitable. But I also lived in France for a while and took my car with me. It is essential to make sure your driving license is valid for the country you are going to, and that you are fully insured.

One thing you will need to remember is that in most other countries, cars are on the right of the road, not the left as they are in the UK. This can make driving more difficult as you can't see as easily in a right-hand drive car if you are driving on the right hand side of the road. You should therefore take extra care.

As long as you check all the paperwork and regulations, taking your car abroad can be very useful indeed, and make life much easier for you.
